R2520G6 fan behavior when the 600W GPU kit is installed without GPU fans and GPUs

When ordering an R2520G6 L6/L9 configuration through CTO or confirming the system configuration with the sales team, if the system iqs configured with the 600W GPU Kit and the 1U heatsink module but no GPU is installed, the following behavior may occur:
Installing the GPU riser without the corresponding GPU fan module causes the SDR fan sensors (Fan 7A–10A and Fan 7B–10B) to report 0 RPM. As a result, the system enters the fan fail-safe mode and all system fans operate at maximum speed.

When the sensor status is checked using ipmitool sdr or via the BMC Web UI, the FAN 7A/7B–10A/10B sensors may be reported as Warning or Critical, which causes the system fans to enter fail-safe mode and operate at maximum speed. This is expected behavior under the current BMC implementation. This behavior only causes the system fans to operate at full speed and does not affect any other system functionality.

If you do not plan to install GPUs at this time but would like to avoid the system fans running at full speed, you can temporarily remove the left and right GPU riser assemblies.
