M50FCP System Fan-4 Keep Running in the ACPI-S5 State
M50FCP System Fan Keeps Running in the ACPI-S5 State
(DC-OFF)
In
the M50FCP server system configured with dual processors, dual PSUs, and an OCP
Ethernet card, it is expected behavior for System Fan-4 to keep running even
when the system is in the ACPI-S5 state.
This is because the OCP Ethernet card is still working with standby power and generates
heat in the ACPI-S5 state, so the system fan keeps running to avoid OCP card overheating
during system shutdown. Besides, System Fan-4 is only working when
installed dual PSUs.
